Terms of Use

These terms are the agreement between you and Launchcore Ltd ("we", "us") for using Kords, the dictation app for Mac. By installing or using Kords you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use Kords.

Using Kords

You must be 16 or over to use Kords. If you're under 18, you need a parent or guardian's permission before you buy a paid plan, and they're responsible for the purchase. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Kords on Macs you own or control, within the plan you're on. Please don't copy, modify, reverse engineer or resell Kords, use it to break the law or anyone's rights, try to get around plan limits, or abuse our servers.

Plans and fair use

Free: unlimited on-device dictation and a weekly allowance of Cloud words (currently 2,000). Solo, Duo and Family: Cloud accuracy for all your dictation, plus Voices and translation, with fair use (currently about 10 hours of audio per person per month). Duo is for two people and Family is for up to six people who share a home. Everyone on a plan must be 16 or over.

Allowances and plans can change. We'll give you notice of changes that affect a paid plan. If you go past fair use we may slow or pause Cloud features for you. On-device dictation keeps working.

Payments, cancelling and refunds

When paid plans are on sale, prices are shown before you buy and include VAT where it applies. Subscriptions renew until you cancel. You can cancel at any time and keep your plan until the end of the period you've paid for. Your legal rights, including any right to cancel within 14 days, are not affected, and our refund details will be shown when you buy.

What you dictate

What you dictate is yours. You're responsible for what you say, insert and send, and for checking it before you rely on it. You give us only the permission needed to process your audio and text to give you the result, as described in our Privacy Policy. Please don't use Kords to create unlawful, harmful or abusive content.

Accuracy

Speech recognition and AI aren't perfect. Kords may mishear, mistranslate or tidy your text imperfectly. Check anything important, and don't rely on Kords alone for medical, legal, financial or safety-critical purposes.

Availability

Cloud features depend on our servers and on other companies' services, and may be unavailable at times. On-device dictation keeps working. We may change, suspend or end features, and we'll give notice where it's reasonable to.

Kords, the Kordies and sharing

Kords, the Kordy characters, the artwork, the names and the branding belong to Launchcore Ltd. You're welcome to share the share cards Kords creates, on social media and with friends, for personal, non-commercial use. All other rights are reserved. Books, films, speeches and other works mentioned in the Kordies Collection belong to their owners. We use their names only to describe word counts and we are not connected to them.

Ending your use

You can stop using Kords at any time and delete your account. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms or abuse the service.

Our responsibility

Nothing in these terms limits any liability that can't be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or your rights as a consumer. Otherwise, Kords is provided as it is. We aren't liable for lost data, lost profits or indirect loss, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us for Kords in the 12 months before the claim.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. Changes apply from when we post them, and if you keep using Kords you accept them. If a change affects a paid plan we'll tell you first.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales can hear disputes. If you live elsewhere in the UK you keep any rights you have under your local law.
